Piemonte’s Italian Delicatessen

Hi!! I had a craving for a really great sub sandwich so I headed to the tower district, more specifically, Piemonte’s. For over 80 years Piemonte’s had been serving up amazing sandwiches. In addition to the subs the deli has an extensive selection of meats and cheeses as well as salads, peppers, olives and those huge dill pickles!! In house made sauces, sausage, ravioli, tortellini and other pastas are also available. For those of you who want a readymade pasta dish such as spaghetti with meat balls, rigatoni or ravioli, lasagna or eggplant parm they have that too!

Service:
The young girl at the register, taking orders was a little frazzled as it was lunchtime and very busy. Still she tried to keep it together and smiled at everyone. I ordered my sandwich and moved on to pick out some deli stuff to stick my fork into. As busy as it was the staff is very aware of anyone walking up to the counter and I was helped in no time.

Food:
I ordered the Piemonte’s special, dry and cooked salami, ham, mortadella and provolone cheese, tomatoes, lettuce, cheese, wax peppers, mustard and mayo all wrapped up in a super soft French roll. Absoforkinlutley delicious!! Also ordered was the Marco Polo. Cooked salami and hot pepper cheese with Italian oil and oregano drizzle. The sandwich was a little too oily for our taste but still good.

My deli selections included, Sicilian olives, antipasto salad, fresh pepperoni, spinach ravioli and, of course, a dill pickle! All were fresh and delicious. My forkin partner for the day took home the eggplant parm. Sadly, she told me that it was a little too soggy and bland for her taste.

Overall the experience, for me, was as it always has been since I was a kid going there with my best friend’s mom to pick up olive oil and other deli treats…wonderful.  Walking in and getting hit with the intoxicating smells of Italian deli food takes me right back to those days.
Now I am aware that there is an ongoing conflict between Piemonte’s fans and Sam’s deli fans. So in the interest of being fair, I shall take my fork and head to Sam’s in the very near future to check them out. I have never been to Sam’s so this will be a true test of taste!! Dueling forks if you will!! If any of you have a preference or favorite at Sam’s, I welcome your suggestions!!

4 FORKS OVERALL!

Till next time…eat well my friends,
